He says don't care, I offer $3 over spot he laughs n says no, he goes on to say the way obama's printing money it won't be long and you'll be wishing you could buy these for $20, I pass on the eagles. he also has common morgan n peace dollars all priced @ $18.50 and won't barter on them. I say good luck selling your stuff n head for door, he says just amatter of time and customers will be clammering to buy at my price, but it will be to late then, prices will be higher. I hope he's right !!!!!!!!!!!!:5_1_120:

Did you try asking him what his buy price is? I bet it's nowhere NEAR $20 per eagle.

Hey, was his name Bob? An older guy whose son runs the shop? He's one of two coin dealers in the Mason City / Clear Lake area. I called him up the other day and he had some 90%, but he wasn't selling. His Eagles were at $19 then.

$3 over spot is below his replacement cost buying monster boxes. I'm not surprised that he laughed.

Here is your mistake: " I say you know price of silver is $12.96 today "
What you actually discovered, but did not understand, was that the PRICE of silver on that day in that store was 20 dollars per ounce.
There is no place on this planet where YOU or I or anyone else YOU know can walk in and buy Silver Eagles for 12.96, that number you quoted is NOT to be confused with a 'PRICE'

Yeah, I had some luck a couple years ago and again last year. Mostly I used to buy on ebay and sell to him since local prices were always higher. Since the craziness in prices and premiums started last summer, I haven't been in either of his shops (he has one in Mason City too). Did you check out his 1/10 GAEs? He had them priced at $135 when I called last week.

He usually doesn't sell any of his 90% to locals (he buys tons of it though). He'll take a whole bag full down to Des Moines and sell it there.

$20 here in Madison, WI, but the dealer was nice enough to offer them to me for $19/each because of the volume I do with them. :confused_m:

So is anyone thinking premiums on Eagles are going to come down from here? They've held pretty steady for the last year or so.
